Our Programs
ACRE is NYC's premier cleantech incubator housed at the Urban Future Lab. ACRE helps cleantech, smart grid and sustainable smart cities companies grow, advancing the city as a role model for a low-carbon future, while also creating jobs. NYC stands to gain significantly by helping innovative startup technology companies that are able to address our most pressing energy and environmental needs. ACRE is funded by NYSERDA, NYU, and our generous corporate partners.

The Clean Start Program is a rigorous one semester Certificate Program from the NYU School of Professional Studies designed to transition students for a new career in cleantech. Mid-career professionals from diverse sectors, acquire the information necessary to work in the clean energy economy and learn technical, analytical, and systems thinking skills from entrepreneurs and industry leaders through hands-on experiential learning, mentorships, and capstone projects. Capstones either pair students with companies from the ACRE incubator and the NYC cleantech ecosystem or allow students to pursue their own ventures.

The Carbon to Value (C2V) Initiative drives the creation of a thriving innovation ecosystem for the commercialization of carbontech—technologies that capture and convert carbon dioxide (CO₂) into valuable end products or services. The C2V Initiative is developed in partnership with Greentown Labs and the Fraunhofer USA TechBridge Program, and is supported by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the Consulate General of Canada in New York.

In partnership with Innovate UK and Enterprise Europe Network, the Global Incubator Programme is designed to support market entry in the US for UK based cleantech startups that can effectively scale and support the clean growth goals of New York State.

The Low-Carbon Hydrogen Accelerator (LCHA) is a startup accelerator focused on advancing innovations that are key to enabling a low-carbon hydrogen economy. The NYU Urban Future Lab is partnering with Greentown Labs, EPRI, Shell, and the City of Houston on the program and are actively seeking applications from startups that are advancing hydrogen production, storage, and distribution.

The Offshore Wind Innovation Hub will work with a select group of start-ups to scale and bring novel technological solutions to the rapidly growing US offshore wind industry. The initiative springs from a new three-year partnership between Equinor, the Urban Future Lab (UFL) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, and the National Offshore Wind R&D Consortium (NOWRDC), supported by New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC).
